100 Students Recruited For Collegiate Esports Through Stay Plugged In

We’re excited to share that Stay Plugged In just reached an important milestone in our journey to help connect high school gamers with collegiate esports programs: we have officially had 100 students recruited! It’s easy to get swept away by the numbers and the desire to smash the next goal, but when we pause for a moment to really think about what this means, the gravity starts to sink in. One hundred high school students are continuing their education while they follow their passion for gaming. One hundred students will explore different career paths and decide what field they would like to pursue after college. One hundred students have been given the opportunity to create their futures. When you stop and think about it - it’s a big deal. Esports, at its core, is a space that allows players from all backgrounds to come together and share an experience that encourages personal development, leadership, and communication skills - all disguised as video gaming. You don’t have to be the best, or the smartest, or even the most popular to be a part of this community. You just have to be passionate about the game you play and willing to learn. This passion, combined with Stay Plugged In’s recruiting platform, can provide students with incredible opportunities that may not have been available to them otherwise. With many college esports programs offering scholarships, a gamer’s passion can set them up for a future full of possibilities.

We spoke with a few coaches in our esports community and here’s what they had to say about Stay Plugged In:

Mike Hansen, Head Esports Coach at Nichols College

“It has been phenomenal to work with Stay Plugged In! SPIN has made the recruitment process so much easier than in the past. Our recruitment levels have jumped up astronomically since joining SPIN and the staff has been phenomenal to work with too. Nothing but the best working with SPIN!”

Scotty Grigsby, Director of Esports at Columbia International University

“SPIN has been a great resource for our program, as it connects us with players who are serious about advancing there Esports career. A lot of our player on the current roster started with SPIN, and without SPINs platform, I'm not sure that we would've been able to connect with them. SPIN is where we go most consistently to find top tier colligate Esports talent.”

Wyatt Howle, Head Coach at F1S Esports

“Stay Plugged In has been critical in getting our students in front of a much larger network of colleges. It's hard for an individual coach to build relationships or even know what programs exist out there, so to have a partner like Stay Plugged In building those relationships and scouting students on your behalf is a huge boon. Every single senior we have put through the program has had offers from all over the country in no small part due to Stay Plugged In.”

Joshua Buchanan, Director of Esports at Alvernia University

“Working with SPIN has been a pleasure. The SPIN team has consistently worked with us to find recruits that are a great fit for our program both in-game and in the classroom. It's clear that the people working at SPIN really care about the students and finding them a college where they'll be happy and continue to grow.”
